2. THE ACADEMIC PROGRAM
2.1) The curriculum
Southview International School is the private English-medium
school in Barisal, Bangladesh. Offering pre-school to A’ Level courses of an
international standard. It offers a complete school-leaving course using English
as the medium of instruction. We emphasize equal proficiency in Bangla as a
necessary prerequisite for a well-rounded education for Bangladeshi students.
Southview International School’s curriculum has been designed to reflect the
specific needs of Bangladeshi students keeping in mind their heritage culture
and national identity.
The school has designed a comprehensive curriculum for all
classes leading to the University of London & University of Cambridge
International Examinations. Ordinary and Advanced Level General Certificate of
Education course which is taught in Classes IX to X. Southview International
School offers a complete primary, secondary and high school program leading to
these examinations, which are administered by the British Council, Dhaka.
2.2 Curriculum Development Unit
Our Curriculum Development Unit (CDU) ensures that a high
standard of education is delivered uniformly at all levels of the school, and
ensures best practices in teaching. It monitors the delivery of the academic program
and comes up with effective services and strategies for imparting our
curriculum and maintaining consistency. The Unit also oversees the planning of
the annual syllabus based on the custom-designed curriculum of the school.
CDU plays an important role in faculty supervision, including
designing lesson plans that are effective. The unit researches and develops the
academic curriculum and teaching resources (including textbooks) to suit modern
needs, and reflects a progressive and dynamic approach to education.
Southview International School is the first
private English-medium school in Barisal to provide facilities for the British
Council, Dhaka to hold the GCE O’ and A’ Level examinations in Barisal.

Southview International school is happy to announce that our
O” and A Level program is being redesigned to prepare students to take exams
under the University of London Examination Board (administered by Edexcel
International). We have also offer O and A Level courses under University of
Cambridge International Examination Board.
CIE is part of the world renowned University of Cambridge,
and it is the world’s largest provider of international qualifications for
14-19 year-olds attracting 610.000 entries from around the word each year. CIE
offers a more comprehensive syllabus, higher quality textbooks, better systems
for marking scripts so that rechecking is minimized, comprehensive transition
support, excellent teacher training programs and lower examination fees.
